Possession of methamphetamines is taken seriously and one Craig man received a heavy sentence as a result last week. 47-year-old Duane E. Newton entered a guilty plea to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced in Routt County Court to 9 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections. Newton has also been ordered to pay a $3,500 dollar fine. Other related charges were dropped. The All Crimes Enforcement Team arrested Newton in February after he was found with over 28 grams of methamphetamine in his possession.
