Unemployment rates are heading the right direction locally, though they are still among the highest in the state. The Division of Workforce Services provided the updated data this week with Daggett County at 3.9 percent unemployment, Duchesne County dropping two-tenths of a percent to 7.4 percent, and Uintah County jumping from 8 to 7.6 percent unemployment. State unemployment made a small decline to 3.1 percent while the national rate actually made a slight increase to 4.8 percent. All but the Natural Resources and Mining Industry posted net job increases for January 2017 compared to one year previous. The private sector industry with the greatest employment increase was Trade, Transportation and Utilities, followed by Education and Health Services, and Leisure and Hospitality Services.
