County Unemployment Numbers Tick in the Right Direction

The Department of Workforce Services has released the latest unemployment numbers and local Counties continue to tick in the right direction. Daggett County is now at 4.4 percent unemployment, down from 4.5 percent. Duchesne County is also at 4.4 percent, down from 4.6 percent the month before. Uintah County ticked down to 4.8 percent unemployment from 4.9 percent. The state average remained at 3.1 percent while national unemployment also remained the same at 4.1 percent. Utah’s private sector employment grew by 3.5 percent over the year with an addition of 42,100 positions. Nine out of ten private sector industry groups posted net job increases last month while Natural Resources and Mining remained unchanged from one year ago. The largest employment increases were in the Trade, Transportation, and Utilities sector.
