Competitors of the County Showdown thrilled an excited crowd on Wednesday at the Western Park Amphitheater in Vernal. 20 contestants were selected to compete having sent in audition tapes and the judges, which included musician Charlie Jenkins, came prepared to seek out the best. The event is a long standing and beloved tradition. Now in its 36th year, Joe Evans started the event as a dream to give local talent the opportunity to compete on stage. The winner came in a small package. 12-year-old Kenadi(Kennedy) Dodds from Logan played guitar and wowed the crowd with her personality, charm and talent. Second and third place went to Basin locals. Tearsha Duncan took second with her dynamic stage presence and confidence. Third place went to Thailer(Taylor) Oaks whose teenage energy was infectious. The crowd loved her bubbly and fun personality and how she involved the crowd. Congratulations to all the competitors on being part of an exciting night of entertainment. Another chance to compete is coming up. The Alive After Five singing contest will be held on Thursday nights starting July 27th. If you’re interested in competing, contact the KLCY studios in Vernal or the KNEU studios in Roosevelt.
