Costs Increase on Stonegate Sewer Project

As the process of acquiring funding for the Stonegate sewer project has extended beyond a year, construction costs have gone up. Horrocks Engineering made a report to the Roosevelt City Council in April stating that while the original project was estimated to cost $4,855,000 dollars, the project is now estimated to cost $5,857,000 dollars, a difference of over a million dollars. Horrocks Engineer cited that construction costs have increased as well as the cost to comply with federal funding requirements. The project is being funded with a loan/grant from the Community Impact Board primarily and the Department of Environmental Quality. Councilman Aaron Weight made a motion to approve the expanded project costs and to seek a zero percent interest loan through the Department of Environmental Quality. The Council approved the motion unanimously.
