Congressman Rob Bishop on Impact of Hiring Freeze

Congressman Rob Bishop is leading an effort to clarify impacts of the Presidential Memorandum that places “a freeze on the hiring of Federal civilian employees.” Utah’s Ogden Air Logistics Complex has thousands of civilian depot workers who should be protected by law from such a freeze, explains Bishop, who has sought the help of Secretary of Defense James Mattis to acknowledge these legal protections. “All federal employees deserve to be treated with clarity and fairness,” shares Rep. Bishop. “As the Trump Administration moves forward finding ways to ease the burden on the taxpayer, I will continue in my efforts to ensure Utah’s workers enjoy the protections the law provides…The civilian workers play a critical role in defending our nation.” Bishop is asking that the memorandum not apply to the hiring of defense civilians associated with military industrial depots.
