The primary election for the City of Duchesne was held yesterday. For Mayor, Deborah V. Herron received 228 votes, Jason Andrew Baker received 180 votes, and Corby Patrick received 12 votes. For City Council, Marty Anthony Herrera received 263 votes, Jenny Adams received 190 votes, Mark Eugene Nielsen received 189 votes, Dawnette Browning received 155 votes, and Janice Lynn Shipman received 34 votes. These results are considered unofficial until the completion of canvassing. One thing to note is that in the past, mail-in ballots would still count even if they arrived after 8pm on Election Day as long as they were postmarked in time. Under new law, however, only mail-in ballots that physically arrive by 8pm on Election Day are counted.
