After a successful first round earlier this year, the Uintah County Sheriff’s Citizen Academy is gearing up for a second session. The first round of graduates finished in March. The 12 week course was put together for average citizens to get a hands on law enforcement education to provide a better perspective on law enforcement as a profession. The group of graduates had an amazing experience and a few volunteers got to feel what it is like to be Tasered just like real officers in training. The Sheriff’s Office is starting up another round of the Citizens Academy starting in July. Those interested in signing up are asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Vance Norton has said the Citizens Academy will be used to form a citizens review board, which has been among Sheriff Norton’s longtime goals. Classes are expected to begin July 13th.
