Local realtors are doing what they can to make sure every kid at school gets a full belly during lunchtime. Every year the Uintah Basin Chapter of Real Estate Agents holds a fundraiser to benefit the community. Last year, they gathered food and money for local food pantries. This year they are hosting a ‘Chuck Your Change for School Lunch’ drive. “We’re collecting change to be divided between Uintah County and Duchesne County School District lunch programs to help those families that don’t reach out for help but need it,” shares realtor Lisa Simmons. A lot of school accounts have a negative balance and the money gathered in these change jars are meant to ensure that kids can go ahead and have lunch without harassment or shame. The drive will go through Thanksgiving. Look for the clear change containers at local real estate offices and some local businesses to contribute.
