The Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce has awarded their quarterly Outstanding Public Service Award to Jim LaMuth, director of programs at USU Uintah Basin. Utah State TODAY reported on the award and shared that LaMuth has been a member of the USU Uintah Basin staff since 2021 and has worked in higher education in the Basin region for the past 10 years. In his role at USU, LaMuth leads the engagement initiatives for both the Roosevelt and Vernal campuses. “It is truly an honor to receive this recognition from the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce,” shares LaMuth. “I appreciate the work that all the chamber members do to support our community.” LaMuth is originally from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and has lived in the Uintah Basin for 13 years.
