Record heat has hit the west with areas of Nevada hitting 118 degrees and the Basin is feeling the heat as well. The unseasonable high temperatures are due to a strong high pressure over the region, shares National Weather Service meteorologist Jim Pringle.

Commission Approves Leland Bench Items During Monday Meeting

Efforts Continue for Seep Ridge Road Extension
Efforts to see Seep Ridge Road extended to I-70 continue. The project, largely supported in the Basin but more resisted in Grand County, would construct a corridor through the Book Cliffs extending Seep Ridge Road to I-70.

Cemeteries Prepped for Memorial Weekend
Memorial Day will bring a wide variety of visitors to local cemeteries this month and local officials are making preparations a priority. Uintah County Commissioner Duane Shepherd made a report during Monday’s Commission meeting that after visiting all 11 of the county’s cemeteries, a list has been compiled of things needing cleaned up.
Body of Missing Hiker Believed Recovered, Vernal Woman Still Missing
Grand Canyon National Park announced on Friday that a body recovered from the Colorado River is believed to be the body of missing 14-year-old hiker Jackson Standefer.
