Commissioner Mark Raymond was recognized by the Uintah Basin Association of Governments on Thursday for his many years of service as Commissioner of Uintah County. His second term as Commissioner ends with the new year.

Despite a shaky economy, new businesses continue to open in the Basin, optimistic about the future. New car detailing shop Executive Importz, located on West Main in Vernal, had their ribbon cutting on Wednesday.

Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office went on a special mission for Santa on Thursday to deliver some presents to students at Con Amore School in Myton. The kids were delighted to see the special visitors and be the recipients of some Christmas cheer.
The Uintah High Band marched in the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade earlier this month, experiencing a trip to Hawaii that the students will never forget. There were many somber moments when the students thanked veterans, visited memorials and learned about the day in history 75 years ago that changed the world.

Santa worked hard to be a good boy this year and took the opportunity to tell Sheriff Norton what he hoped to find under his tree. Clearly, the Sheriff’s Office Kid Christmas Party was an absolute success.

Dr. Bankhead made a stop at Ollivanders wand shop in advance of the UBOC spring concert last week. The choir and orchestra’s performance of Double Trouble from Harry Potter carried with extra magic as Dr. Bankhead conducted with a real wizard’s wand.
Visitors of the Utah Field House are enjoying spring weather to explore the gardens. Renovations to the outdoor gardens were complete in 2016.

Uintah FFA Greenhouse is having bedding plant sales. They are open Wednesday’s and Friday’s from 3:-5:00 PM and Saturdays 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM. They are located directly behind Uintah High School. They have a great selection for Mother’s Day with many bedding plants, flower containers and hanging baskets.
