Roosevelt Man Dies After Accidental Fall

A Roosevelt man died after an accidental fall yesterday in Vernal. According to Vernal PD, Law Enforcement and Medical Personnel were dispatched to Basin Saw and Cycle in Vernal City on June 20th just before 6:00pm on a call that an individual had fallen from a ladder. “Life Saving efforts were unsuccessful and 59 year old Bruce Taylor of Roosevelt was pronounced deceased at the scene.” Evans Family Media joins Vernal PD in offering our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Taylor at this difficult time.

Enjoy River Fest for John Wesley Powell 150th Anniversary Celebration

Thursday was a great kickoff of the John Wesley Powell River Fest set up around the Uintah County Library with music, food, inflatables, and even the chance to get on the water! People of all ages enjoyed getting on the makeshift pond next to the Scout Office, able to borrow kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes for a ride right in downtown Vernal!

Uintah County Commission Adopts Tax Rate For 2019-2020 Budget

The Uintah County Commission adopted the tax rate for the 2019-2020 budget year during Monday’s Commission meeting. The state recommended a certified tax rate of 0.003083. “Instead of adopting the certified tax rate established by the state, the commissioners chose to retain the current tax rate, which is a lower rate of 0.002885,” shares Uintah County.

The Hit, Run, Score for a Cause tournament held each year in Vernal is the largest charity softball tournament in the state and it is in it’s 19th year. Locals that supported a special charity ride that made a stop in Vernal last month may be interested to learn that the cause raised a significant amount of money to benefit children with chronic illnesses. The Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America announced on Tuesday that over $1.7 million dollars were raised during their 3,700 mile journey across America.

DWR Stocking Fish at Strawberry Reservoir

The Division of Wildlife Resources has been busy stocking waters throughout the Uintah Basin with all kinds of fish but neighboring Strawberry Reservoir is the focus this week. DWR biologists started stocking the reservoir on Monday, taking fish out onto the reservoir in barges and releasing them throughout the lake.

Flood Warning for Duchesne River Near Randlett

Uintah County Emergency Management shared Tuesday afternoon an updated flood warning for the Duchesne River near Randlett in Uintah County. At noon on Tuesday the river stage was 13.2 feet. Flood stage is generally considered to be at 13.3 feet. Minor flooding is forecast and property owners should prepare in whatever ways appropriate. The impact at 13.3 feet will flood fields and lowland along the river southeast of Randlett with damage possible to some private bridges and irrigation works.
