KNEU 1250The Roosevelt Branch of the Duchesne County Library System has been an important part of the community and it will continue to be even when the library moves to its new location in the fall.
As of Thursday, January 6th, TriCounty Health Department reported 9,422 total COVID-19 cases in the tri-county area to date. As of that report, there had been zero new COVID-19 related deaths in the previous 7 days and 13 new COVID-19 related hospitalizations. According to Thursday’s data, there were 354 active cases.
Winter in Utah can feel long, especially if you’re stuck indoors. The Division of Wildlife Resources suggests ice fishing as an excellent option for getting outdoors and there are plenty of great locations to try in the Uintah Basin. Flaming Gorge and Strawberry Reservoir are suggested as excellent locations if you’re looking to catch larger fish.
Traffic was diverted for an early morning crash on Highway 40 west of Vernal on Thursday.
An phone store employee is in Duchesne County Jail after he allegedly accessed a customer’s explicit photos and messaged them back to the customer. According to the arresting officer’s Affidavit of Probable Cause, a Roosevelt woman called Central Dispatch on January 3rd very upset after explicit photos of herself were sent to her phone from an unknown number.
Theft in the community isn’t necessarily on the rise but that doesn’t mean it is going away. “Let’s call it a consistent problem,” shares Vernal City Assistant Police Chief Keith Campbell. “I would encourage people in our community to lock their homes and vehicles and not leave property visible in vehicles and on porches that would entice or encourage a potential thief.”
A local man is receiving some much deserved recognition for the difference he makes in the lives of local youth. John Robertson was nominated for the Lieutenant Governor’s Volunteer Service Award and anyone that knows him is not surprised to learn that he won!
The Henline family of Vernal are doing their part to literally save lives and they are encouraging more community members to give what they do a try. So what is it that they do? Well in the last 7 years they have fostered more than 400 pets, literally saving their lives in the process.
The Duchesne County History Center historical photo project continues to progress thanks to the use of social media. Duchesne County Library Director Daniel Mauchley shares that the History Center’s Facebook page now has over 700 followers that help the History Center to identify people, places, events, and things in the photos posted.
What do Christmas trees and electronics have in common? Well for the next few weeks both can be recycled locally. Live Christmas trees can be recycled by dropping them off in the parking lot at 100 West 100 North in Vernal.
The Uintah County Commission approved the 2022 Uintah County budget last week. Commissioners unanimously approved a tentative budget of $59,293,198 dollars. When including American Rescue Plan Act funds the 2022 budget was listed at $61,268,172 dollars.
Construction on the new Roosevelt library has stayed on track despite supply issues.
