DEQ Storage Tank Emissions Pilot Project

Work is underway on the Storage Tank Emissions Pilot Project, known as STEPP, in the Uintah Basin. The 2016 Utah Legislature’s budget included a $150,000 appropriation for the Utah Department of Environmental Quality(DEQ) to create a pilot program that would visit oil and gas sites to screen for leaks primarily from oil and gas-condensate storage tanks.

Police Chase Ends in Arrests

A man who fled from police in a stolen vehicle and was eventually caught near Rangely was arrested on multiple charges last week. 22-year-old David Morgan was traveling between Meeker and Rangely when a Sheriff’s officer spotted him in a pickup which matched the description of a stolen vehicle.

Wilkerson Released to Halfway House

Citizens in the Basin are expressing their concern over word that a repeat sex offender sentenced to Utah prison in 2014 has been released. 43-year-old Tommy Lance Wilkerson was living in Duchesne County when he was sentenced in 8th District Court in 2014 to serve up to 5 years in prison for violation of a protective order.
