An early morning pursuit ended in arrest during the early morning hours in Uintah County. According to Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit began after a BIA officer attempted to stop a passenger car for speeding at approximately 2:45am on 6500 East in Fort Duchesne.
The reopening of SR-45 is no small thing for southern Uintah County. After a 17-month closure, UDOT completed construction on a 157-foot bridge that spans an eroded mining trench on SR-45 near Bonanza.
The 114th Congress adjourned last week and will rest until January when a new year of Congress will begin.
Canadian based company U.S. Oil Sands announced this month that plans for the PR Spring project will be deferred until a $7.5 million dollar financing is complete. Mechanical construction of PR Spring is complete but “as a result of liquidity constraints,” the Company has elected to “lay-up the facility pending the closing of Financing.”
Like most agencies, Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is almost always in the process of hiring and training new cadets for their team. Sheriff Dave Boren was among many in attendance at the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) ceremony in Sandy on Thursday, honoring new graduates from the program.

The response to a drive to gather gifts for local elderly has been good with today as the last main day to contribute. While donations will be accepted and appreciated next week, the organizers of the effort are hoping to begin organizing donations today so they are ready for delivery next week.

The Uintah County Commission renewed their agreement with the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce for 2017. During Monday’s Commission meeting, County Attorney Jon Stearmer explained that based on the detailed list of public benefits provided, there is legal justification to renew the agreement.
Snow on the ground is good news for chukar hunters. The cold causes the birds to concentrate in smaller areas, making them easier to find.
