While economic downturn has been hard on Basin families, it has also inspired an increase in locals pursuing higher education. According to UBATC representative Paul Hacking, the networking between USU and UBATC is providing opportunities that are helping local families during this tough time.
The new Uintah County Commissioner was sworn into office on Tuesday at the Uintah County Commission Chambers. Brad Horrocks replaced Commissioner Mark Raymond, who served in the Commission seat for 8 years.

The Steinaker Ice Fishing Tournament has been postponed. The tournament was scheduled for Monday but a lack of ice made it necessary to postpone the event.
An upcoming preparedness fair is aiming to do more than just help prepare locals for emergencies; a chunk of tickets sales will also go to a local family with mounting medical bills.
