The Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra is an umbrella organization under the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus and the musicians ranging in age from 9 to 19 are definitely following in their parent organization’s professional footsteps.

Former Duchesne County Teacher Receives Prison Time for Sex with a Minor

A former UBATC teacher in Duchesne County who was charged with 2nd Degree Felony Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a 16-year- old was sentenced to prison this week. 33-year- old Noah Christopher Behunin was charged in February in 8th District Court. He entered a guilty plea on September 25th to 3rd degree felony Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a 16 or 17 Year Old.

The life of a Jensen teen known for his outgoing and kind personality has been remembered this week with gatherings of family and friends, the sharing of memories in classrooms where he sat just last week, and through hundreds of social media tributes. 15-year-old Conner Scott Wall passed away as a result of injuries during a November 4th Jeep accident and the world has been a bit dimmer for many people since that tragic accident took place.

Preliminary election results are in. Uintah County had a 38.46 percent voter turnout with 5,105 ballots cast out of 13,273 registered voters. Proposition 5 failed in Uintah County with 41.15 percent voting FOR the transportation tax to 58.85 percent voting AGAINST it.

Community Celebrates Historic Vernal City Tabernacle/Temple

This week community members are celebrating a historic building that has significant meaning for many Basin residents. 20 years ago the renovated Vernal City Tabernacle opened its doors as the newest temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Local members of the Church celebrated the temple opening and 20 years later patrons are remembering the building’s history as the celebration continues.
