A case of domestic violence in Vernal has one man facing six charges including one count of rape. According to the Vernal Police Probable Cause statement, 27-year-old Zachary David Perrin was arrested on

August 17th

as he tried to flee from the Basin but was stopped in Duchesne County and brought into custody. In July, Perrin allegedly told his wife to apologize for a look she gave him and pushed her while she held the couple’s one year old child. Perrin began to choke her and then locked her with the children in the bathroom so they would not leave. His wife took pictures of her neck that police stated were consistent with her story. Afraid for their safety and unsure what to do, Perrin’s wife stayed in the home with his promise to change, that is until an incident in August that police say amounted to one charge of Rape and one charge of Forcible Sodomy, both first degree felonies. When investigators contacted Perrin he was evasive and said he was leaving town to visit family. Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office picked him up and he was transported to the Roosevelt Police Department and then on to the Uintah County Jail. In addition to the felony charges, Perrin is charged with misdemeanor Assault, 2 counts of Domestic Violence in the Presence of a Child, and Unlawful Detention. Perrin posted the $5,000 bail but has been ordered to wear an ankle monitor. Perrin was in court this week and was served with a Pre-Trial Protective Order by the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office.
