It’s time to commit! The people behind the scenes of the effort to break the Guinness World Record for most people dressed up as dinosaurs want to know who is planning on participating. Dust off your dinosaur costume and start gathering gear so Vernal can live up to its Dinosaurland nickname. The attempt is taking place during Vernal’s Dinah SOAR Days Hot Air Balloon Festival on August 22nd. The number of costumes to beat the record is 468 but the goal set is 800. All costumes will be verified by official Guinness World Record witnesses. No partial costumes will count towards the record. A costume counts if it is head to toe. It must include a dinosaur headpiece or mask and inflatable suits are welcome. It is free to participate and all participants must stay in full costume together for at least 1 minute in the fenced area in the Lamplighter parking lot. If you are planning to participate, please fill out the form on the Dinah “Soar” Days & Hot Air Balloon Festival Facebook page or click the link with this news story on BasinNow.com. Businesses or individuals that would like to donate costumes, sponsor the event, or donate funds for participants to get into costume, please call Cheryl at 435-790-9189.
