T-Rex on Highway 40 in Vernal is in need of some love and a crowdfunding effort is now underway to finance the needed repairs. For some time now, the Vernal City Council has discussed what could or should be done and public input was sought last week through a survey. What the City thought might generate a few hundred responses actually ended up with 2,854 by the time the survey closed. What was the response? There was an overwhelming support to repair T-Rex to his former glory with many citizens willing to make a donation towards the cost. Because of the extent of the damage, the repairs are estimated at $30,000 dollars which was more expensive than the City anticipated and why public input was sought through the survey. The City Council considered the survey results and responses during Wednesday’s City Council meeting and approved repairing T-Rex as well as keeping him in the same location. A Go Fund Me page has been set up that will be facilitated by the Charitable Friends of Ashley Valley, a non-profit 501c3.
