Tis’ the season for orange cones and construction workers. The 2017 construction season is underway and UDOT plans to stay busy in the Uintah Basin. Work is already underway on the Highway 40 Myton to Roosevelt widening project that will add two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, a 14-foot center median turn lane and 10-foot shoulders. Work will run through October. Three projects are in the beginning stages this month with an intersection improvement project on S.R. 87, Steinaker Overlook rehabilitation on U.S. 191 north of Vernal, and an 11 mile resurfacing on U.S. 191 south of Duchesne. In July, work will begin to add left-turn lanes and wider shoulders on Highway 40 at the McCoy Flats turnoff. Work will also kick off on the Highway 40 Duchesne to Antelope Creek Bridge resurfacing project. Finally, near the end of the construction season in August, guardrail improvements will be made on S.R. 87.
