Buckskin Hills Shooting Range Under Video Surveillance

Uintah County is taking vandalism at Buckskin Hills Shooting Range seriously and issued a press release regarding the issue on Tuesday: The free shooting range is open to the public to use responsibly and is expected to be left in good condition. Unfortunately, over the years individuals have dumped garbage at the range, left targets and pallets for others to remove, and have shot at the posted signs. Uintah County in an effort to stop the repeated vandalism and litter from occurring has now installed cameras at the Buckskin Hills Shooting Range. People caught leaving their garbage and used targets at the range will receive a littering citation. Vandals will be referred to the Uintah County Attorney’s Office for prosecution. Those choosing to participate in activities at the Buckskin Hills are reminded to follow the no trace principle. “Pack it in, pack it out.” Uintah County is fortunate to have a great place like Buckskin Hills Shooting Range for the public to use. The County Commissioners are hopeful that having the range under video surveillance will help eliminate the problems that have occurred. If the vandalism and littering continue to be a problem the Commission will look into further actions to be taken.
