Every fall, county Boards of Equalization meet to hear appeals on assessed property values that were mailed out to property owners in July. In Uintah County this fall, 103 of those appeals received an adjustment to their property value for a combined net reduction in value of about $9 million dollars. “These property owners brought in resources and documentation and it was shown that those property values were less than assessed,” explains Uintah County Clerk/Auditor Mike Wilkins. “Property owners had until
September 15th
to apply and file an appeal so the deadline is now passed.” This does not result in tax refunds, says Wilkins, because these adjustments are all done before property tax notices are sent out by the end of October. The 103 appeals that were successful was a combination of residential and commercial properties.
