The BLM Vernal Field Office has issued an Environmental Assessment and Decision Record approving three Applications for Permit to Drill for Scout Energy Management LLC. The project, located in Uintah County, authorizes production from existing federal mineral leases and associated infrastructure on BLM-administered lands. The decision approving the proposed action was signed April 15th. The conditions of the EA include guidelines to maintain Air Quality requirements and consideration of threatened and endangered cactus in the area. Scout Energy has committed to paleontological monitoring on BLM portions of the project during construction by a BLM-approved paleontologist. If paleontological resources are discovered during construction on BLM lands without the presence of a monitor, work at that location will stop, and the official would be contacted for mitigation measures to implement.
