BLM Approves Powerline Upgrade In Uintah County

The Bureau of Land Management's Vernal Field Office announced on Thursday the approval of a powerline upgrade. According to the announcement, they issued Categorical Exclusion documentation for the American Gilsonite Powerline Upgrade. The Official signed a decision record approving an amendment to American Gilsonite Company's existing right-of-way to allow installation and operation of an additional 13.8 kilovolt powerline on BLM-administered lands within the existing corridor. “The proposed powerline would assist with reliable electrical capacity for American Gilsonite Company’s current power consumption and their anticipated future demand. The new powerline would be a total of 16 poles, and the pole spacing would be approximately 250-feet apart for a total powerline length of 4,290-feet on BLM lands. Construction would begin immediately upon approval and would take approximately two months to complete.” The project location is in Lot 11 of Section 23 in Uintah County.
