Nothing gets serious hunters more upset than the poaching of prize animals they only hope to get the chance to one day hunt. The Utah Conservation Officers Association has announced a case of possible poaching that is now under investigation in the Book Cliffs area where a very large bull bison was found on Saturday. The Conservation Officers stationed in Vernal were called in to investigate and located the dead bison. It had been shot and left earlier in the week and then was found by a group of deer hunters who reported their find. Bison were reintroduced into the Book Cliffs of eastern Utah starting in 2008. Wildlife officials began building a sustainable population in the area with the help of the Ute Indian Tribe. The effort was the start of a free-roaming herd in the Book Cliffs.
