A favorite annual summer fishing event could pay off in a big way for those that participate. ‘Fishing with the Fox’ is a partnership with Evans Family Media’s 98.5 The Fox and the Utah Division of Natural Resources that aims to promote fishing on our local lakes and reservoirs. The big prize this year is $3,500 in cash from the Wildlife Conservation Foundation for the person who catches the right tagged fish. “The Fishing with the Fox’ contest is an excellent example of a working partnership here in the Basin,” shares Conservation Outreach Manager Tonya Kieffer-Selby. “The UDWR gets to promote fishing at local reservoirs and gains valuable feedback about catch rates. This information can then be used to assess and adjust stocking rates and schedules down the road. It’s a fun way to get families and friends involved in something as simple as a fishing outing. It also means that people are hopefully unplugging from their electronics and gaining some much need nature therapy in Utah’s great outdoors.” Fishing with the Fox runs through August 1st and tagged fish are located in Moon Lake, Moose Pond, and Steinaker Reservoir.
