BEWARE: Letter Posing As Uintah County Tax Lien Enforcement A SCAM

by | Feb 24, 2022 | News | 0 comments

Uintah County is urging the public to beware of a scam coming through ground mail and that has been mailed to multiple county residents. The envelope does not have a return address. Instead, it states, “Pending Tax Lien Enforcement” with the date and a Tax Lien Number. The document inside has a heading that says “Tax Processing Unit, Uintah County, Public Judgment Records” and includes a toll free number. THIS IS NOT from Uintah County. It is a SCAM! The Uintah County Recorder’s Office wants to make it clear: Uintah County would never send a notice on behalf of the State for a State Tax. Uintah County would have a return address on the notice. Uintah County does not have a “Tax Processing Unit” office. They have the Uintah County Treasurer and she has her letterhead on everything, along with her name on it. Finally, if you google the number it does come up as a scam phone number. If you have concerns, please call the Uintah County Recorder’s office at 435-781-5398.
