The Utah State Board of Education released new data in December concerning Utah schools. The state graduation rate for 2017 was 86 percent with 40,100 students receiving their diploma. The rate increased over the last 5 years from 81 percent to 86 percent. The dropout rate of the state as a whole is 11 percent. By District, Basin schools are looking good. The Duchesne County School District reported an 89% graduation rate of 378 eligible students. That rate is up an impressive 5 percent from the year before. The Uintah School District increased their graduation rate by 7 percent from the year before with Uintah High School claiming a 94 percent graduation rate. 54 percent of students at the Ashley Valley Education Center graduated in 2017, a 2 percent increase from the year before. School grades released in the fall from the Utah State Board of Education show that Basin schools sit around the average for the state. Uintah School District elementary schools had 4 Bs, and 5 Cs. Uintah High School received a C. Duchesne County School District elementary schools had 2 Ds, 1 C, 5 Bs, and 1 A. Duchesne County School District high schools received two Bs and two Cs.
