The Vernal Chamber of Commerce has presented the Basin Clinic as the Business of the Month for February. The clinic was founded in
1962 by Dr.
Paul Stringham to be a family practice that could offer a variety of medical care for the Basin. In 1987, Dr. Karl Breitenbach joined the clinic. When Dr. Stringham retired in 1992 there was an overwhelming need for more help so Dr. Breitenbach reached out to Dr. Rodney Anderson to set up a business plan for the Basin Clinic. They have added two more doctors, Dr. Kirk Woodward in
2002 and  Dr.
Mike Olsen in 2003. In 2002, it was determined the clinic was becoming crowded and needed more space. 8 Acres of land was purchased at
379 North 500 West
and, partnering with Jerry Larson, the current facility was built. The current clinic has 3 nurse practitioners who are licensed to see and provide primary care to patients, as well as 3 Physician Assistants who operate the Urgent Care Facility and are licensed to diagnose and treat patients. With the four doctors, there is always one available for consultation in Urgent Care. In addition, there is 35 full time employees and many part time employees. The Doctors at Basin Clinic perform close to 62,000 office visits per year and have many connections to the community including supporting local activities and events. Dr. Breitenbach mentioned how special it was to be delivering babies of the babies whom he had delivered years ago.  He says he has seen the medical community become better and better and is pleased with all that is provided in our area.
