Ashley Valley Water & Sewer Improvement District is hosting a public meeting tomorrow at noon to address public concerns about water conservation rates and costs moving forward. On April 29th, the District held a public meeting at the Uintah Conference Center where the board adopted a tier based rate system. Posted with the Conservation Rate information on their website, the District states, “This rate structure is designed to reward those who conserve by lowering the base rate, is designed to be temporary(expires end of October 2026 as water supply allows), and funds from rates will go back into the system to either purchase additional water rights/shares, or improve the existing distribution systems.” Most recently, the District website announced the return to normal rates ahead of schedule. “Because of our customer's efforts, over 178 million gallons of water (547 Acre-Feet) was conserved compared to last year,” shares the announcement. “That conservation, along with a wetter than expected monsoon season on the mountain during June and July, and 200+ Acre-Foot water leases allow for the return to normal rates months earlier than anticipated.” April water usage showed a reduction of 23.5% from the year before, May showed a reduction of 37.9%, June had a reduction of 34.1%, and July had a reduction of 32%. The August 18th public meeting at noon will be held at 1753 East 1500 South.
