Uintah Basin Healthcare has sponsored the support group known as “Caring For Coy” for many years now. The “Caring for Coy” program was started when two community members, Jeremy & Nicole Maycock lost their newborn son, Coy. Through Nicole’s experience, she saw a need for care kits and burial kits to provide much-needed items during a heartbreaking experience.

Uintah High Theater Changing Spring Production Plans
Further changes have been made to the Uintah High Theater season. The program announced in September the cancellation of the Addam’s Family musical and in its place the return of Showtime Uintah, a Broadway Musical Revue. Even with that change the hope remained that the March production of Mama Mia would happen.

Halloween activities are starting up and officials are asking that you make safety a top priority. The Department of Public Safety is offering the following tips: Walk Safely! Cross the street at corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks. Put electronic devices down and keep your head up while walking. Always walk on sidewalks or paths. Watch for cars that are turning or backing up.
Utah State Liquor Store in Vernal Closed Following COVID-19 Positive Employee
The Liquor Store in Vernal has been closed until further notice. According to Terry Wood, Director of Communication with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, the Vernal store was closed on Monday following the results of a positive test for COVID-19 in a store employee.
Roosevelt City Welcomes New City Manager
Big changes have occurred in the Roosevelt City leadership. On Friday, Roosevelt City announced the hiring of Scott Finlayson as the new City Manager. Finlayson has 22 years of work experience in law enforcement and public administration on the Wasatch Front, most recently as the Assistant City Manager in Herriman City.
Chief of Police Resigns in Roosevelt City
Roosevelt City announced Monday that they are saying goodbye to their Chief of Police. “Roosevelt Police Chief Rick Harrison voluntarily resigned from his position over the weekend,” shares their announcement. “He was hired to serve as Chief of the Roosevelt Police Department in 2005 and spent over 15 years serving and protecting the citizens of Roosevelt City and the surrounding area.

The Utah Women and Leadership Project recently released the discoveries the team found in its third and final quantitative look at the leadership in Utah’s public sector. Women hold 29.1 percent of municipal leadership positions, which is lower compared to leaders in Utah state and county governments which are both at 40 percent.
Matt Warner Among Harmful Algal Blooms To Be Cautious of
Currently, there are 14 water bodies under harmful algal bloom warning advisories across the state of Utah and local water body Matt Warner Reservoir is among them. Starting October 31st, the Utah Division of Water Quality will stop monitoring for the blooms. What does this mean for the Basin?
