Waterfowl hunting season has started and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources has some reminders and tips. Waterfowl hunts are opening to anyone with a Utah hunting license (with the exception of swans that require a permit). Note though that individuals are also required to have a Harvest Information Program (HIP) number to hunt any waterfowl in Utah, and a federal duck stamp if you are over the age of 15.

COVID-19 Transmission Index and Update (9/30-10/6)
As of Thursday, September 30th, TriCounty Health Department reported 7,400 total COVID-19 cases in the tri-county area to date, an increase of 69 new cases from the day before. According to Thursday’s data, there are currently 1,172 active cases. Over the past seven days the tri-county area has seen 22 new COVID-19 related hospitalizations and 3 new COVID-19 related deaths.

Duchesne County Fire Restrictions to Lift
Duchesne County fire restrictions will lift beginning October 1st. Emergency Manager Mike Lefler approached the Duchesne County Commission on September 20th with a request to move out of the fire restrictions while still ensuring that the fire permit process be followed during the fall burn and with guidelines sent out to the public of what they must do when burning.
Gobbler 5K Race Announces 2021 Recipients
Organizers of the Gobbler Thanksgiving 5K have announced the recipients of this year’s upcoming race. Ali Dudley was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in May and has since undergone 8 rounds of very aggressive chemotherapy and will undergo a double mastectomy before the Gobbler this year.
