Taking time to donate blood literally saves lives and local hospitals are urging locals to make time to donate. To put it in perspective, about 4.5 million Americans will need a blood transfusion this year. 43,000 pints of donated blood are needed each day in the United States and Canada. In fact, someone needs blood every two seconds. Our local hospitals are currently in critical need of blood. To help aid the need, Ashley Regional Medical Center is hosting a blood drive through the Red Cross and the time to sign up is now. Make your appointment online at www.redcrossblood.org and enter the keyword: Ashley. Select a time and follow the steps to reserve an appointment. Ashley Regional Medical Center will be having their blood drive on Monday, May 2nd from 11am to 4pm.
