The people behind the scenes of the Ashley National Forest are exploring new ways to keep the public up to date on their happenings and a newsletter has been added to their offerings. In the newsletter’s first edition, Forest Supervisor Susan Eickhoff shares that the passing of the Great American Outdoors Act and other initiatives means the Forest is working to improve aged facilities. They also recently launched the 10-year Wildfire Crisis Implementation Plan to address the risks of wildfire in places that pose the most risk to the community. This month they will be meeting with stakeholders in northeastern Utah to identify ways to improve the health of the forest while protecting local communities from the threat of wildfire. Eickhoff also shares that forest planning continues and that other planning documents will soon be presented to the public for comment.
