Ashley National Forest Having An Active Timber Sale

by | Jul 26, 2023 | News | 0 comments

Ashley National Forest announced that there is an active timber sale taking place along the Spirit Lake Road within the Flaming Gorge Ranger District about two miles south of Spirit Lake. For those that do not know, a timber sale is removing beetle killed trees that pose a hazard along the road. Caution signs will be posted in the active cutting area. What this means is that travelers will experience delays of up to 30 minutes as trees are fell across the roadway and removed to allow traffic to pass from Monday thru Friday. The sale will run now until the snow closes the operation in the fall. Expect log truck traffic during the week throughout the rest of the year as product is removed from this timber sale. Please remember that the speed limit on forest roads is 35 miles per hour unless otherwise posted.
