Prescribed burning in the Ashley National Forest is underway. The planned burning on Reservation Ridge, west of the Avintaquin Campground, will be in progress the remainder of this week and into next week. The Reservation Ridge East Sagebrush project area covers over 1,500 acres and is located on the south unit of the Duchesne Ranger District about 20 miles southwest of Duchesne. The plan is to reduce or temporarily eliminate shrub canopies that increase vegetative ground cover and enhance the frequency and diversity of plant species. The Reservation Ridge Piles project is treating about 100 acres and is located approximately 3 miles west of the Avintaquin Campground, along the Reservation Ridge scenic byway.
