As State Mandate Lifts School Mask Mandate Staying in Place

Getting “back to normal” seems more and more likely. Many people are getting the COVID-19 vaccine and Utah’s mask mandate will soon be lifted since Governor Spencer Cox signed HB294 on Monday. HB294, ‘Pandemic Emergency Powers Amendments’, states that the “public health order issued by the Department of Health pertaining to a statewide mask requirement in response to the COVID-19 emergency is terminated on April 10th, 2021.”  Uintah School District is clarifying, however, for those that don’t know that the K-12 school mask mandate will remain in place. HB294 states that “health safety measures in a K-12 school may remain in place” but that the health order “shall be terminated no later than July 1st, 2021.”
