Arrests have been made in a local case of trafficking of a 15-year-old minor. Melissa Goodrich of Roosevelt was one of three Utahns arrested as part of a nationwide FBI operation called Operation Restore Justice in which 205 child sex abuse offenders were arrested. Goodrich was charged with Trafficking of a Minor on April 23rd. Since then, 35-year-old Jeffory Murray was charged in connection to Goodrich and the trafficked minor victim. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, Murray would come to Goodrich’s Roosevelt apartment and allegedly bring Methamphetamines to Goodrich and have sex with the minor victim as payment. Murray, already incarcerated at the Duchesne County Jail, was interviewed on May 20th at the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office. During the interview, Murray denied knowing about the human trafficking but went back and forth about knowing the victim was a minor as well as how many times he was with the victim. During the investigation, the minor victim, who was 15-years-old at the time, disclosed that Murray was with her 5 times as payment for Methamphetamine and that Murray would get high with them at the apartment a lot. Murray has been charged with 5 counts of 2nd Degree Felony Forcible Sexual Abuse and 5 counts of 3rd Degree Felony Endangerment of a Child. An order to be held in Duchesne County Jail without bail on the charges was filed on May 27th.
