Arrest Following Aggravated Assault At Local Hotel

An arrest was made after a report of assault at a local hotel in Uintah County over the weekend.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, a male guest came to the front desk complaining that he had been locked out of his room. Hotel staff felt alarmed by the man’s appearance and behavior and called police.
Officers arrived and found the man stumbling around, speaking with slurred speech, and smelling of alcohol. Dried blood was also observed on the man’s face. The man, identified as 40-year-old Brett Robert Campbell, claimed that he and another individual had been arguing but no physical altercation had happened.
Officers made contact with the person in the room who was observed to have broken skin and dried blood on their lips, hands, and blood stains on their shirt. Beer cans were strewn throughout the room. The person stated that they had been physically attacked by Campbell, including being pulled to the ground by their hair and kicked in the chest and face. Campbell later stated to officers that the boots he was wearing were composite toed boots.
The victim was transported to the hospital where it was found they had multiple fractured ribs, bruising in areas where kicked, and a collapsed lung as a result of displaced fractured ribs. The victim also had two fractures on the bone around one eye as well as a broken finger and additional fractures. The victim was flown to a hospital on the Wasatch Front for further treatment.
Brett Robert Campbell was arrested and is charged with 2nd Degree Felony Aggravated Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury and Public Intoxication. Campbell is being held without bail.
