Are there fireflies in the Uintah Basin? Some insist that yes there are! Others say no. Armed with the science, Uinta Basin Birds & Butterflies is hosting a special event on Wednesday at the Uintah County Library to answer the question once and for all. Uinta Basin Birds & Butterflies is a partnership between natural resource managers and local citizens with the goal to develop fun environmental education projects that focus on local conservation issues. The presentation will feature the experts from the Natural History Museum of Utah’s Firefly Citizen Science Project that has found hundreds of firefly populations around the state of Utah. Visit the Uintah County Library on June 15th at 6:30pm and learn how citizen science helps document firefly populations.
