If a bad day of fishing beats a good day in the office then what does a great day of fishing beat? You could ask an angler who hit a rare fishing goal last week in our region. On March 24th Daniel Oler caught the “trifecta” of sportfish through the ice at Strawberry Reservoir. The three sportfish species include Bear Lake cutthroat trout, rainbow trout and kokanee salmon. Daniel reports catching and releasing 17 trout, and he kept one kokanee salmon (that he took home for dinner) on his late-season ice-fishing trip. Utah DWR reminds people to be sure to check for safe ice if you are planning to get out on the ice and fish.
