Economic downturn hasn’t meant the end to generous giving in the community. Just last week, Anadarko headed up a special donation which provided DCFS and Turning Point Shelter with several dozen bikes. “We wanted to give some bikes to kids that might be in need,” says Mike Perez of Anadarko. “We talked with Brandi Duke at DCFS and decided on a need of 30 bikes.” 5 mountain bikes were also purchased and given to Turning Point Shelter for residents to use as transportation while seeking employment. “It was a fun effort to assist and help those in need,” shares Perez. “Brian Mansfield at Walmart and Joel Brown at the [Vernal Area] Chamber didn’t hesitate when I presented them with the idea. Vernal is a very generous community and it was fun to be a part of this project.” The project was such a success, Anadarko plans to make it an annual event.
