The Uintah County mom already facing a child abuse charge for allegedly putting Borax in her children’s water was arrested this week on a separate child abuse charge after her 8-year-old son was found walking in the middle of the road at night. According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, an officer was called to the area and picked the child up. This was after dark and the child was wearing only socks, no shoes, and a too-small coat. It was about 40 degrees outside with the temperatures dropping. The 8-year-old told officers that he had been in an argument with his mother over time on his electronics that ultimately ended with his mother allegedly grabbing him by his hair and throwing him outside. He said he was told he could not live at the residence anymore. Officers asked the mother, Barbara Williford, to explain what happened. Barbara stated the boy had anger issues and had been asked to get off his electronics to help with chores. The argument escalated and Barbara said the boy was throwing items at another individual in the residence. She stated that she forced the juvenile outside. When asked if she said the boy could no longer live there she said she told him that if he was not going to be a team player, he was not allowed to live there. 48-year-old Barbara Susan Williford was taken into custody and booked on 1st Degree Felony Aggravated Child Abuse “for knowingly and intentionally sending the child outside without shoes exposing the child to excessive cold and darkness.”
