A race event at Flaming Gorge that had an unsure future will continue! It was announced over the weekend that the ‘Race on the Rock’ Triathlon has a new Race Director to ensure the 2019 event will be a reality. Cate Miller of Rock Springs is a military veteran, cancer survivor, mother, and triathlete who says she, “couldn’t stand the thought of the race being discontinued. Triathlons were a stable in [my] household,” shares Miller, “and hopefully that will be true for other households across the area.” Miller’s goal is for the 2019 race to remain the same with both Olympic and Sprint distance races along with Aquabike, Aquathlon, Duathlon, and youth competitions. In the future, Miller hopes to add 70.3 and 140.6 mile races to the event. ‘Race on the Rock’ takes place on the Wyoming side of Flaming Gorge and is the only USA Triathlon sanctioned event in the state. The event is starting to attract attention with only 6 local competitors last time and the rest flying in from all over the country. Registration opens
on December 1st.
