Uintah School Board Vacancy Announced Due To District Boundaries Realignment

After exploring options, the new district boundaries for Uintah School District have been announced and there is now a vacancy on the school board. The realignment of district boundaries was made by the Uintah County Commission and the resulting changes means that Uintah School Board President Dave Chivers now represents District #1 and board member Harlan “Scoot” Wilkins is now an at-large member of the board until the end of his term. The new map aso means there is now a vacancy in District #2 and members of the school board are now responsible for appointing a representative for District #2 to fulfill the term until the next regular election. Those interested in applying for the position must meet the following criteria: You must reside within one of the voting precincts in District #2 which include VC 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13; You must write a letter of interest to the attention of Board President Dave Chivers that includes proof of being a registered voter in District #2; The letter must be received at the Uintah School District Office no later than noon on March 1st; And finally, you must attend a special meeting of the school board at 5 p.m. on March 3rd at the district office. The Uintah County Board of Education will interview candidates and make a selection to fill the vacancy.
