Vernal City Exploring Rezone Options As Future Downtown Plans Considered

by | Dec 9, 2021 | News | 0 comments

Vernal City has been taking time to consider many rezone options as the future of downtown is considered. During a recent City Council meeting, the council members discussed at length the new concept of a mixed use residential zone that does not rezone the properties initially. Once adopted to the code, property owners within the zone can ask to change the zone on their properties and it is supported by the general plan for mixed use purposes. City Planner Allen Parker explained to the Council that the zone is designed to blend several uses that are usually segregated, mixing in residential where it was just retail and commercial use. The item was opened to public hearing and the consensus was to continue the public hearing to allow more time for the public and council to consider the concept.
