The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office recently presented several items during the Duchesne County Commission meeting. First, Sheriff’s Office Manager Cynthia Wardle presented the 2021 Beer Tax Annual Report. The funds received in December 2020 were used for DUI saturation patrols, officer visits to schools to educate children on the dangers of alcohol consumption, and performing alcohol assessments during bookings at Duchesne County Jail. The pre-release program was modified to allow arrestees to be released under Duchesne County Jail supervision with random drug and alcohol testing performed every week. The Commissioners approved the Beer Tax Funds Fiscal Year 2021 Annual Report. Sheriff Travis Tucker also got up in order to present an application for $5,149 dollars to purchase body cameras utilizing the Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice Law Enforcement Grant. The current cameras have batteries that wear out easily. The Commissioners approved the application.
