Once again the COVID-19 Transmission Index reports Duchesne County and Uintah County at the High Transmission Index Level and Daggett County at the Low Level, leaving some community members confused by how the levels are calculated. TriCounty Health clarified that the reason Daggett County remains in the Low Level while it has increasing cases is that a county with fewer than 6 people per square mile must have more than 14 cases to be moved above the Low Level. So while Daggett County has a 7-day average percent positivity of 47 percent, it only had 11 cases in the past 14 days. Uintah County’s 7-day average percent positivity was 19 percent and there were 180 cases in the past 14 days and Duchesne County was 37 percent and there were 244 cases. According to Thursday’s press release, there has been to date 5,885 total COVID-19 cases in the TriCounty area and there are currently 598 active cases. Locally there were 14 new COVID-19 related hospitalizations and zero COVID-19 related deaths. Statewide total ICU utilization was 89 percent and the 7-day COVID-19 utilization was 35 percent.
